The bad elements of plastic surgery come into play when plastic surgery is used as a way to bolster self esteem outside of natural methods. In other words, instead of trying to increase your self-worth through positive methods like exercise, you become addicted to plastic surgery, so much so that it borders on unhealthy obsession. This starts you down a detrimental path. Just look at some celebrity examples, like Michael Jackson for an example this in action.

Plastic surgery when used as a simple tool to improve your appearance can be advantageous. When used as a tool and not an obsession, it is a great way to complement the other healthy methods of improving your appearance, such as dieting and exercise.
